*a very delicious starter, the calamari is definitely fresh and the mandarin salads taste really wonderful.

Grain fed MSA 300g boneless prime rib steak on a green pea puree,
Enoki mushrooms with Yakiniku BBQ sauce
-Not the best steak but the yakiniku sauce definitely brought the whole dish up. Also, the pea puree taste really delicious.

-Taste wise, not really extraordinary but still delicious. The way they plate up is really creative.

Homemade chilli jam
-This is a MUST MUST MUST try chilli jam. Ask from the staff for this "you can't find anywhere" chilli jam. Taste like an authentic asian chilli. Can't really describe it in words. I finished the whole cup and still asked for more.

Roule Galette

Roule Galette - French Crêperie

Scott Alley, 241 Flinders Lane, Melbourne
Phone (03) 9639 0307 begin_of_the_skype_highlighting              (03) 9639 0307

Bonjour!
The friendly greeting by the French 'crepes master' as soon as we stepped inside the cute little cafe.  The cafe is rather small, probably can only fit in about 10 people inside. However, there are extra tables outside for patrons to sit.

All the staffs were super friendly and funny. As soon as we were seated, they offered us drinks and gave the menu.

Here are some of their "killer crepes" :
Anne So - Chocolate, ice cream, flake almonds
-like this very much, a simple chocolate and ice cream combination topped with flake almonds. The flake almonds not only enhanced the flavor but it also give a bit of extra crunch.

Monkey - Fresh banana with chocolate
-Banana with chocolate is a classic combination, so the flavor will never go wrong. The taste is just faultless. A little sprinkle of icing sugar is there to make the presentation beautiful.

Suzette Flambèe - The « suzette »flambée au Grand Marnier
-A crepe flamed with Grand Marnier leaving behind an orange flavor. Beautiful dessert.

Les Crêpes Spéciales - Chocolate, strawberry, banana topped with flaked almonds.
 -All in one crepes.

Chicken du Chef - Wonderful “sauté” de Chicken with fresh mushroom and a bit of cream.
*yummm*

Cheese crepes with mix salad.
 -a light taste.

Omah's Malaysian Cuisine

Omah's
136-138 Rouse Street
Port Melbourne 3207

T: +613 9676 9918
F: +613 9676 9917

Omah's is a Malaysian Restaurant located at Rouse St, Port Melbourne. Omah's offer both authentic hawker favourites and contemporary Malaysian classics.

The restaurant's interior and decorations are inspired by the Malaysian tea houses. The teak wood furniture and bird cages have been imported from Malaysia.

Look at those bird cages! What a wonderful ideas to put light bulb inside the cages.

Omah's also offer variety of wine. Their wine have been specially chosen from a range of local and imported wines to match the dishes.

Omah's have been awarded the highest 3-star rating by The Age Cheap Eats 2005. The famous food critics Matt Preston also gave a positive review about Omah's. So, out of curiosity, I went to Omah's to try their food.
On your right is 'Nyonya Fish' -
''Steamed fresh Barramundi, filleted, dressed with lemongrass & tamarind sauce. Garnished with fresh coriander'' - their specialty dish and one of the chef's recommendation listed in the menu.

In terms of portion, I think is a bit too small.
However, I would say that the tamarind sauce is delicious.

Next dish is 'Buttered Prawns'- "Large Australian wild prawns coated in fragrant dry egg fluff. Full prawn flavours enhanced with curry leaves & spring onions".

Again, the sauce is the winner. The taste is just unique. The prawns were in a good size too. They're huge and crunchy.

You have a choice of either steamed rice, coconut rice or roti to enjoy the dishes.

Macaroni Schotel

It first started when I visited Marsia's at her apartment. She made this delicious macaroni baked called the macaroni schotel. It's been a long time since I had this so I decided to try and make one myself. Here is the recipe that I used to make this delicious macaroni schotel.

Ingredients:
- 200gr macaroni (Honig Brand)
- 375gr Corned Beef (Hamper Brand)
- 3 eggs, beaten
- 300ml fresh milk
- 3pcs garlic, finely chopped
- 1/2 brown onion, finely chopped
- 4 button mushrooms
- salt, pepper, sugar and nutmeg to taste
- 1 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese ( I used Coon for Pizza)
- 1tbsp all purpose flour Or 2 tbsp if you want to be more firm

Cooking instruction:
- Preheat oven to 175 C (375 F)
- Boil the macaroni until cooked, set aside to cool
- In a big pan, heat 2 tbsp oil, saute the garlics and onion until fragrance
- Add corned beef stirring for 3 minutes
- Add milk, salt, pepper, sugar, nutmeg, flour, stir well
- Heat off, pour in the macaroni and eggs, mix it well
- Pour in a large oven proof dish, topped with shredded cheese
- Bake for 15-10 mins until the cheese turns golden.

Enjoy!

iSpicy 2 at Victoria St

iSpicy is one of the best authentic thai restaurant in Melbourne. The food is just awesome and definitely will not burn your pocket. iSpicy located next to Safeway Hawthorn. The place is tiny and just by looking at the decor, you will not believe that the food is great.

Not too long ago, they open another branch at Victoria Street, Richmond. They called the restaurant iSpicy2. The place is much bigger and patrons are able to sit upstairs as well. Here are some of the foods that I ordered.

Stir-fry chicken in Panang curry
- One of the best Panang curry I ever taste.

Garlic soft shell crab
-This is one of the special dishes written on the menu. The soft shell crab is fry but to my surprise, it is not oily at all. They must have drained the oil really well. *good job*

Thai broccoli with crispy pork
-A lot of people will probably go for this dishes whenever they craving for thai food. The crispy pork is nice and the flavour is really light compare to Zab Thai's famous Thai brocolli with crispy pork. However, if you prefer strong flavour of this dish, will definitely recommend Zab Thai.

Seafood Tom Yum Goong
-Highly recommended. The soup is not too sour but still the flavour is there. Really good. *2 thumbs up*

Lard Na (Rice noodle top with gravy, beef and vegies)
 - These was served during lunch hour and its delicious.

Yam Woon Sen  with crispy pork
-Super delicious. Go for this if you like to taste an authentic thai salad. Its a great meal for those of you who like to have a light lunch.

Pandan chicken (special of the day)
-Not really extraordinary but worth a try. The sauce is beautiful.

Sweet Treat at Liquid Bar, Docklands

It was a cold Friday night at Dockland. We were too lazy to go home so we decided to look for desserts along Waterfront city. Then, there were two places that caught our eyes. One is called 'Bopha Devi' and the other called 'Liquid Bar and Cafe'. Looking at the dessert menu from both places, we decided to try the desserts at Liquid Bar and Cafe. We ordered all of the desserts that were written on the menu. *Pig mode ON* *grin*

Here comes the review:
1.) Icky Sticky Date Pudding
served with caramel sauce and ice cream    $10
- Two thumbs up for the sticky date pudding. First spoonful just melts in your mouth. The caramel sauce was heaven... The pudding was perfectly made with chunky dates you can bite.

 2.) Bomb Alaska
chocolate brownie topped with ice cream and italian meringue flame at your table    $15
 - The brownie sits at the center of the ice cream tops with meringue. The presentation of this dessert was amazing. Never seen a dessert served like this before. When it arrived on our table, the waitress pour a red wine over the meringue and light a fire with a lighter. The flame was enormous and everyone on the other table were so amazed by it. Taste wise was not as good as the sticky date pudding.

3.) Churros - Spanish Doughnuts
Served with homade chocolate sauce and ice cream    $10
 - The worst dessert of the night. To be honest, San Churros is still the best churros in Melbourne. For $10, definitely is not worth the money.

4.) Raisin torrijas with honey and walnuts
brioche dipped in egg and vanilla batter, pan fried and served with walnut ice cream       $10
- Its like having a raisin toast top with vanilla ice cream. Will not recommended.

Nobu Melbourne

You walk into the ground-floor reception and bar from within the glossy Crown complex charged with hype. The super-successful international chain, the powerful connections, the reputation forged over two decades in the major capitals of the world as the It restaurant in 18 locations, and now Melbourne (and still counting), the reputed Crown set-up budget somewhere in excess of $5 million – you cannot hit Nobu Melbourne with anything like an open mind.

A glamorous hostess greets us and checks our reservation. If you’re special, she’ll escort you down the stairs and into the dining room. And if not, she’ll phone down the arrival of “the so-and-so party”; this is how all the wait staff know to yell “irasshaimase!” – welcome! – as each new arrival descends down into the room.
(Gourmet traveller 2010)

Order 'spicy miso tuna chips' for the appetizers.

It's impossible to avoid some kind of contact with the ' black cod with miso', probably the most widely known Nobu signature – the waiters like to recommend it. Imported from Japan, the cod is marinated in a miso-based paste for days and roasted hot and fast, as simple as that. For those of us who are unfamiliar with the dish, the fish has an extraordinary fine flake texture and the blackened skin is an elastic/gelatinous treat. It is certainly worth trying.

Next, a generous pile of baby tiger prawns covered in a light coating of tempura batter and with a tart ponzu sauce being served. The prawn is fresh and I really enjoy every single bite of it.

Order 'soft shell crab sushi rolls' to try. To my surprise, taste wise is not much different from the one you get from sushi sushi. For me, I think the all the rolls was a little bit overpriced.

Can't resist for not trying the toban yaki. 'Toban Yaki' is a method of cooking on a ceramic plate. Order beef toban yaki; the beef is cook medium rare when served. As you let the beef stays longer on the plate, it will slowly cook thoroughly.

Breezes Dining Experience

Step into Breezes and escape to a sanctuary of culinary pleasure...

Located near the swimming pool on Level 3 at Crown Towers, Breezes offers an oasis in the city - with a sun drenched terrace and al fresco style restaurant overlooking the CBD skyline and Yarra River.

Dine at Breezes about 2 weeks ago. Overall experience - very pleasant. The service was good, waiter and waitresses very friendly, food was good and the ambiance was just perfect for that night.

Breathtaking views from inside the restaurant

Kiffler potatoes with garlic and rosemary
(delicious)

Black olives crusted barramundi with minestrone garnish
(Daniel had this and he pretty much liked it. The sauce taste really good with the barramundi. The crusted skin of the barramundi was the best part *yum*)

Seared king fish nicoise with quail's eggs, tapenade dressing
(I had this but I don't enjoyed it as much as Daniel's barramundi. This dish lack of sauce in it. For me, the fish was a bit dry. The salad was just a normal mix salad with added quail's eggs cut in half)
